free Mental health curriculum in virginia schools

We want to equip teens with tangible coping skills to be able to better handle life’s challenges. In partnership with the Minding Your Mind Foundation, the CKG Foundation works with local public and private high schools to implement “Minding Your Mind”, a prevention-based program and curriculum to provide and initiate conversation regarding mental health. It includes an initial presentation by a certified, young adult speaker with life experience with teenage depression and/or anxiety. We then provide professional staff to facilitate an eight to ten week interactive Peer Support Curriculum. This curriculum covers the following topics: stress, anxiety, depression, coping skills, positive self talk, active listening, and mindfulness. The program can be customized to meet each school’s needs and time constraints.

Minding Your Mind's Speaker

Listen to Drew's powerful message about his own personal experience with mental health struggles and the positive turn his life took after he chose to SpeakUp.

Minding Your Mind’s primary objective is to provide mental health education to adolescents, teens, and young adults, as well as parents, teachers, and school administrators. Our goal is to break the silence, to reduce the stigma and destructive behaviors often associated with mental health issues and illnesses, and to move away from crisis-based response to prevention through education.

The Minding your Mind course has impacted me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. It taught me to be especially mindful of others and what they could be going through before judging. Often, people don’t realize how quick they are to judge, but this course really opened my eyes and I looked forward to every Friday, it made my days so much better!!
