CKG Welcomes Sara Pomeroy, Director of Development and Marketing

Sara grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, and attended Ministry School in Pensacola, Florida.  In 2002, she moved to Richmond, Virginia for a job and change of scenery. Being a natural entrepreneur, Sara has opened her own catering business, became a certified fitness instructor, and pursued her passion in worship leading for local churches and events.

Sara has dedicated the last ten years to serving the nonprofit sector. Highlights include her founding the Richmond Justice Initiative, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about human slavery happening in the United States through awareness, advocacy, and prevention education, whose curriculum is now in schools across the country. She also served as the Virginia State Advocacy Director for International Justice Mission, an international organization dedicated to bringing an end to slavery in their lifetime. Most recently, Sara has served at CHAT, a local nonprofit in the east end of Richmond in a variety of ways, including leadership development, strategic partnerships, fundraising and human resources.

Sara is a social media influencer and blogger for PaleoRVA, a blog she launched in 2017 when she was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, as a way to share her recipes and healthy living habits with the community. As someone who has also battled with anxiety and depression, the minute Sara learned of the CKG Foundation, she knew she wanted to be a part of a team that is making a significant mark in erasing the stigma of mental illness and making Cameron’s vision a reality.

Outside of work, you can find Sara in the kitchen and on Instagram, cooking up something yummy and Paleo-friendly, singing at Third Church, drinking coffee or La Croix, reading a Brene Brown book, or at the gym practicing her yoga moves.
