SpeakUp Newsletter - October 2018

Hello October! Is it official? Are we allowed to start ordering the pumpkin spice lattes, or is it still too early for that? I need to brush up on my fall etiquette. The warmth of holding a pumpkin spice latte in my favorite mug, the smell of the vibrant flavors, and the warmth trickling down my throat, brings me a sense of peace and comfort. I encourage you to find your very own version that invites a sense of peace and comfort into your day. This invitation is not a selfish pleasure. It is a defining factor that ensures the success in our lives, as well as dictates the quality of our physical, mental, and emotional livelihood. When our internal worlds are spinning at an uncomfortable and unsustainable speed, we cannot be healthy and successful in any part of our lives.

That is why I am so excited to announce CKG’s community event for the screening of “Ansgt,” followed by a panel of experts ready to answer your questions after the film screening. Through the lens of this impactful documentary, you will be educated, empowered, and better equipped to handle your anxiety and those around you.

I wish you a happy and comfort-filled fall and will end with one of my favorite Maya Angelou quotes:

“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”
