"You Are Worth It All" by Grace Gallagher, Executive Director

In this race of life, I am here to tell you that you are never alone. I am counting on you to be there for me and for David when we line up at the start line on March 19th to run the same steps as Cameron did in 2014. There are many ways you can give my family strength and hope. You can reach out to that person who perhaps hasn’t responded to your last few texts. Reach out to them again, let them know you care. Smile at a stranger in the grocery store, let someone go ahead of you in line at Starbucks, and feel grateful for the stoplight that turned red. Because of that red light, you get a few more moments to truly be present and still. It is in those still moments I am able to see so much beauty in this world.

Cameron took that moment the morning of March 16, 2014. Standing at the start line, she took out her phone and took a picture of the sunrise, turned and looked at me with a little smile. I know what that sunrise meant to her. She was grateful for it, it was beautiful and full of hope. I was so proud. Her dad and I knew what it took for her to get there.

When I reflect how that morning began, my heart is full. Cameron worked hard, she was ready. Cameron felt proud, she was happy walking to the start line shoulders held high and strong, her eyes twinkling with excitement. Looking back now, I see that day she was the light before the sunrise. I see her as hope in action. So in your dark days remind yourself of Cameron Gallagher. She is right there with you, with us, saying “You are worth it all.”

Thank you Cameron, I love you so much.
