The SpeakUp5k is Cameron’s design. Full of fun zones, music, bubbles, and loads of inspiration- it is more than a race. It is an experience.

Cameron designed this race as a way to bring the community together to
“Speak Up” for those who are suffering, for those who are battling
depression and anxiety, and to challenge people to visibly
and vocally support one another.

Whether you run, walk, or meander along the course
with your kids, this day is all about the mission to SpeakUp!
On One Day, with One Voice, individuals and groups all across the country
will join together to SpeakUp for teen mental health.

Typically held in Byrd Park, the Richmond event draws a crowd of supporters excited to shed light on mental health. Participants experience hope, light, and positivity as they encounter fun zones along the course and while they walk through Quote Alley, featuring quotes taken directly from Cameron’s journals.
To coincide with the Richmond event, CKG launched National SpeakUp5k Day in 2020, where participants from any city and country can take part in this event by walking in their own hometown. Whether walking solo or with a group, it’s all about shedding light on mental health and changing how our society discusses this critical topic.
Cameron planned fun zones throughout the race to keep participants motivated and smiling. Don’t be surprised if you run through a “Rave” fun zone or get squirted with a water gun. A signature part of the race is “Quote Alley,” where Cameron’s own sketches and quotes are sure to inspire participants.
The SpeakUp5k ends with a festive party at the finish line. It is a celebration of each person’s individual achievement that day, as well as a celebration that together we are impacting the community by increasing understanding of mental illness.
The SpeakUp5k is a great opportunity for teams of all kinds. Whether you involve your school, family, office, or neighborhood, create a group and run/walk together!
