CAMERON DESIGNED THIS RACE TO BE
BRIGHT, FUN, SILLY & HONEST.
Whether you run, walk, or meander along the course
with your kids, this day is sure to be exciting!
NO JUDGMENTS, NO STIGMA, JUST FUN FOR ALL!
The SpeakUp5k race series serves as a primary vehicle to drive the SpeakUp
message into the community in a powerful, positive, and active way.
The purpose of the race is for people and families to come together and
“Speak Up” for those who are suffering, for those who are battling
depression and anxiety, and to challenge people to visibly
and vocally support one another.
AS CAMERON SAID, "LET'S FINISH THIS!"
SpeakUp5k Richmond is the flagship event of the SpeakUp5k Race Series.
Started in 2014, this race continues to grow as the community embraces
Cameron’s dream of hosting a 5k where people come together to shed light
on mental illness in a positive and active way.
With around 4,000 in attendance, this event is one that you do not want to miss!
Get ready for year TWO of the DC event! The Payroll Network SpeakUp5k presented by United Bank brings together the communities of Maryland, Northern VA, and D.C. This year's event will be held at the Maryland SoccerPlex on Sunday, Oct. 4th. Participants will stayed motivated throughout the course thanks to cheer zones, fun zones, and inspirational Quote Alley. It's never too early to start getting a team together! Check out last year's recap video of the inaugural SpeakUp5k DC below.
FROM OUR COMMUNITY
THANK YOU for a wonderful experience at the SpeakUp 5k this morning! The course was beautiful, the race was well organized and the people were so friendly! I had a great time and will be back next year in support of this most worthy cause!

WHAT MAKES THE SPEAKUP5K UNIQUE?
Cameron planned fun zones throughout the race to keep participants motivated and smiling. Don’t be surprised if you run through a “Rave” fun zone or get squirted with a water gun. A signature part of the race is “Quote Alley,” where Cameron’s own sketches and quotes are sure to inspire participants.
Each SpeakUp5k ends with a festive party at the finish line. It is a celebration of each person’s individual achievement that day, as well as a celebration that together we are impacting the community by increasing understanding of mental illness.
The SpeakUp5k is a great opportunity for teams of all kinds. Whether you involve your school, family, office, or neighborhood, create a group and run/walk together!
